The last of the year’s major game releases launched last week, with Xbox One’s Dead Rising 4 going up against acclaimed PS4 exclusive The Last Guardian, but neither could compete with the multi-format titles already in stores.

Dead Rising 4 charted in fifth spot, actually only outsold on an individual format basis by Infinite Warfare on PS4 and Xbox One, respectively. The game charted two places higher than Dead Rising 3 three years ago.

Sony’s The Last Guardian couldn’t translate all those years of hype into chart success, starting its life at No.7 on the All Formats list, but fifth when looking only at individual formats – also behind FIFA 17 on Xbox One. Shadow of the Colossus topped the chart when released for PS2 back in 2006.

With the new releases faltering, it was Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare which regained the No.1 spot, perhaps a sign it will be on enough Christmas lists to take the Xmas No.1 spot.

EA’s FIFA 17 and Battlefield 1 sit in second and third, whilst Final Fantasy XV drops to fourth. Watch Dogs holds at sixth.
