Dead Rising 3 is now “frame-locked” at 30FPS, producer Mike Jones has claimed, just one month after the game appeared to be suffering from major performance issues.

Discussing the game’s performance at TGS with Polygon, Jones said that “if you saw it at Gamescom, we got a new drop from Microsoft literally that week, so you’re seeing optimisations happening right now.

“We’re in the midst of beta and final optimizations and polish – absolutely, we’ve got the game frame-locked at 30.”

Last month, Capcom Vancouver told VideoGamer.com that it was working closely with Microsoft to iron out the game’s performance issues in time for launch, claiming that the choppy demo on display at Gamescom was “several weeks old”.

“We’re targeting 30 frames a second,” senior producer Jason Leigh told us at the time, “and because we’re based in Vancouver, and Seattle is where Microsoft is based, we’re only three hours up the road so we constantly have tech people driving back and forth and they’re helping us to make this a very smooth running game at launch.”

But Polygon’s report claims that the significant frame rate issues “weren’t present in the demo shown off at TGS 2013,” and “even with two players chewing through groups of zombies, the framerate stayed smooth.”

Dead Rising 3 launches alongside Xbox One on November 22.
