UPDATE: Tecmo has told VideoGamer.com that Dead or Alive 5 Last Round: Core Fighters will cost £3.99 on Xbox One at launch, rising to £7.99 after the first two weeks.
ORIGINAL STORY: The Xbox One version of Dead or Alive 5 Last Round: Core Fighters will be available at a discounted price for the first two weeks following its release on February 20, Koei Tecmo has announced.
Not to be confused with the full game, Core Fighters is essentially a content-limited version of Last Round offering access to a limited number of characters. However, it differs between PS4 and Xbox One.
On PS4, Core Fighters can be download totally free of charge and offer access to almost every game mode and four fighters – Ayane, Hayate, Kasumi and Ryu. The game can then be expanded via additional purchases.
On Xbox One, meanwhile, a free trial of Dead or Alive 5: Last Round can be downloaded offering access to the above content, but cannot be expanded upon until the purchase of Core Fighters. Once Xbox One players have paid a small fee to upgrade, they’ll be given access to four further characters – Hitomi, Tina, Jann Lee and Bass – and can expand the game via additional purchases.
Why does it differ between platforms? Goodness only knows, but upgrade the Xbox One trial to Core Fighters within the first two weeks and you’ll get it at a discounted rate.
We’ve checked in with Tecmo to try and find out how much you’ll be able to get it for during and after those first two weeks.
Dead or Alive 5: Last Round launches on PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PS3 on February 20. A PC version is due to follow on March 30.
