The Dead By Daylight Year 9 anniversary livestream confirmed the expected with the announcement that Springtrap will be the killer for the DBD x FNAF Chapter. Unfortunately, while BeHaviour Interactive shared exciting details such as a skin from the live-action movie featuring voice lines from actor Matthew Lillard, BeHaviour didn’t share any perks. We have to wait until a future livestream and PTB for the perks to be unveiled, but, for the here and now, a Dead By Daylight developer has shared how Springtrap will “appeal to most Killer players”.
Springtrap in Dead By Daylight will “appeal to most Killer players” similar to Dracula
Upon the Year 9 anniversary livestream, Gamerant shared an interview with BeHaviour Interactive discussing the Five Nights At Freddy’s Chapter for Dead By Daylight. This interview was conducted with Behavior Interactive’s head of partnership, Matthieu Cote, and Killer designer Jason Guzzo.
While unable to reveal the perks, Guzzo discussed the multiple playstyles for Springtrap that will be available. The Killer designer said that Springtrap will “appeal to most Dead by Daylight Killer players because we [BeHaviour] found this space where different playstyles—projectile players, chase players, melee players—they can all find ways to make it work”.
Guzzo compared Springtrap to Dracula from the CastleVania Chapter released in 2024. According to Guzzo, the goal with Springtrap “was to give as many tools as possible,” which is the same “philosophy we [BeHaviour] had with Dracula, where you could just play as the wolf the entire game if you wanted”.
For the Five Nights At Freddy’s killer, players will not have to use everything available if they don’t want to. For example, “If you like playing as a melee character, you don’t have to use projectiles or focus on chases or loops”.
Unfortunately, nothing else was revealed about Springtrap other than BeHaviour chose him to be the Chapter’s killer because he’s the series’ “big bad,” and the FNAF license holders agreed it “was the right direction to take”.
We will learn about the perks for Springtrap during a future livestream that will coincide with the release of the PTB on the same day. There’s no date as of writing, but the best bets right now are either May 27th or June 3rd.
