Dead By Daylight fans had a very eventful time yesterday. There was the 2v8 mode livestream, the release of Lara Croft as a survivor, the launch of Tome 20, and there was also a new update featuring buffs and nerfs. Following this new update, DBD fans have reported an “awful” Knight nerf not mentioned in the 8.1.0 patch notes.

The Dead by Daylight 2v8 livestream was a lot of fun. It reaffirmed the imminent 2v8 mode release date, along with detailing the killer skills and survivor classes. BeHaviour also made official the previously leaked release date for The Casting of Frank Stone, and they also announced that cross-progression is coming on July 22nd.

All of the above are fantastic releases to anticipate for the future, and don’t forget we have a CastleVania chapter arriving soon, too. While yesterday yielded plenty of great news for the DBD community, some fans are upset over the recent nerfs to the Knight killer.

Dead By Daylight fans report secret Knight nerf

Following the release of update 8.1.0, a thread was posted on the Dead by Daylight subreddit reporting BeHaviour “made a change to Knight that isn’t mentioned in the patch notes and makes him feel absolutely awful to play”.

You can check out the update 8.1.0 patch notes to see all of the buffs, nerfs, and changes to the Knight, but players are reporting that there is a nerf not mentioned that gives the Knight a “10 sec cooldown everytime a Guard despawns”. The OP of the Reddit post, PsYcHo4MuFfInS, says it “Doesn’t matter if you kicked a gen, doesn’t matter if a chase ended, doesn’t matter if you missed your guard and had to wait for it to despawn. You are forced to play M1 killer for 10 sec”.

Reacting to this nerf, and the changes made to the Knight overall, DBD fans are not happy. One of the top replies says, “We asked for Knight changes but didn’t notice the Monkey Paw in the background,” to which another user replied, “We asked for buffs, and what they gave us are nerfs on top of nerfs, truly is a miserable time to be a knight main”.

One user commented, “Glad to know I wasn’t the only one who noticed, he feels so awful with the 10 second cooldown, I feel like I’m being punished for using my power”. Another user commented, “I thought he was alright on ptb, then they gutted both the addons and added this limitation to his base kit… He wasn’t that strong on ptb. Now he’s probably one of the worst killers in the entire game”.

Fans are also not happy with how BeHaviour implied they were buffing the Knight. One user replied, “I don’t understand how its possible to nerf a killer while attempting to buff him,” to which another user commented, “Adds one small buff but nerfs him in 5 ways… This is like taking a step forward but going backward 4 steps”.

To put the nail in the coffin, Dead by Daylight fans believe that he is finished. “Why on earth did they shadow nerf this character,” one fan bemoaned, meanwhile, others quipped, “They really killed this killer uh… ” and “He was dead before daylight”.

It is a shame for fans and those who main the Knight killer. Shadow nerfs are always frustrating, no matter the multiplayer experience, and, for the time being, it appears that the Knight is “one of the worst killers in the game”.
