Arguably, the most daunting experience in DBD is playing as a lone killer. After all, preventing survivors from escaping, monitoring gen progress, and ending chases quickly is easier said than done. So naturally, in the game’s classic 1v4 mode, most players often prefer being a survivor because it’s much easier to finish five generators than it is to endlessly chase four people down by yourself. In the new DBD 2v8 mode, however, the tables have turned.
Since 2v8 pairs you up with another killer, you’re less likely to be victimized by never-ending loops and constant flashlight blinds. Objectives are much easier to keep an eye on, often leading to more wins for the game’s ragtag group of villains. So unsurprisingly, with the confidence that this instills, this has helped some, like Reddit user Mr_Jackabin, overcome their fears of playing as a killer in the regular 1v4 scenario.
In fact, this is already being reflected in the absurdly long DBD 2v8 mode queue times, as a majority of players continue to disregard the ongoing 400% Bloodpoint bonus Behaviour Interactive has in place for survivors. Of course, this isn’t a surprise since nobody wants to be left lying on the floor to bleed out because of the current slugging problem. But we digress.
As more players continue to discover the joys of playing as a killer, one can’t help but wonder if this may usher in a new era of classic 1v4 mode killer mains once the hype surrounding 2v8 dies down. Only time will tell if it will, but for now, you’ll have to continue putting up with unnecessarily long waits just to get into a 10-player match.
