Dataminers have been poking around in Grand Theft Auto Online in hopes of uncovering yet more Red Dead Redemption 2 items, and their efforts have paid off: The Guru Team have unearthed a stone hatchet.

For reference, developer Rockstar Games launched a crossover event last year for GTA Online, which allowed you to unlock a weapon for the upcoming Wild West sequel.

The Guru Team (via PC Gamer) actually found this item before the event was event announced, and it looks like they've now done it again. According to the dataminers, the stone hatchet can be grabbed via a treasure hunt, where players must visit five locations on the map to capture or kill a target.

Once you've done this, the game requires you to visit one more location to uncover the weapon in a treasure chest. This can then be used in special challenges, which then unlocks the stone hatchet in Red Dead 2.

Of course, the weapon isn't actually available right now. It exists in the game's code, but the event itself hasn't gone live yet. Presumably we'll hear something soon when Rockstar unveils the next crossover mission.

The previous crossover event allowed you to get your mitts on the Double-Action Revolver. Tasty.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is scheduled for release on October 26 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. If you feel like chucking some serious money at the cowboy-'em-up, then Rockstar's got you covered with this neat Collector's Edition.

There's also apparently a PC version on the cards, although nothing official has been confirmed just yet.
