A third game in the Darksiders series could be revealed soon, former creative director Joe Madureira has teased, explaining that its new owner Nordic Games "seems very committed to continuing the series".

"[Darksiders] is not dead!!!" Madureira wrote on Facebook this morning. "The new owner, Nordic seems very committed to continuing the series. As far as my involvement, I can't say at this point. Hopefully we will all have exciting news about the franchise soon!!!!!!"

Darksiders was acquired by Nordic Games in April 2013 following THQ's closure. The publisher later resurrected the franchise via the Darksiders Collection, a compilation release of the first two Darksiders games.

The publisher has yet to announce any formal plans for the future of the series.

Developer Vigil Games closed early last year, with many of its staff going on to form the foundations of Crytek USA.
