THQ Nordic has announced that Darksiders 3 will release on the Nintendo Switch in late September.

The hack-and-slash action adventure originally released back in 2018 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. The most recent mainline entry follows Horsewoman Fury in a prequel to the original game. Fury is tasked with hunting down and killing the Seven Deadly Sins by the Charred Council. She’ll battle through the depths of hell, taking on other-worldly creatures and upgrading her skills as she embarks on her quest. Souls can also be collected from fallen enemies to allow Fury to upgrade her weapons and equipment.

Interestingly enough, something former editor Colm Ahern noted in our review at the time were the game’s technical issues. He said: “Freezes became more frequent with each new location, however, and loading screens more common and lengthy.” It’ll be good to see if and how THQ Nordic have managed to optimise the game for the handheld Nintendo Switch. And could a belated patch for the PS4 and Xbox One version follow soon behind? We can but hope.

Darksiders 3 for the Nintendo Switch will also come with both the Keepers of the Void and The Crucible DLCs. It launches for the Nintendo Switch on September 30, 2021. Check out the game’s original launch trailer down below.
