Dark Souls 2 will release in March 2014, according to an advert on display outside the LA Convention Center.

The advert is one of the first video game ads to appear ahead of next week's E3 convention, and appears to jump the gun on Namco Bandai's release date announcement.

The 2014 date means Dark Souls 2 will ship almost two and a half years after its predecessor and months after PS4 and Xbox One go on sale later this year.

VideoGamer.com was given an early look at the game earlier this year and, despite having a new director on board, Dark Souls 2 looks like is going to be just as difficult as ever.
