Dante’s Inferno: The Animated Movie will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on February 8 2010.
The anime is intended to act as “a ferocious companion piece” to the Visceral Games-developed action title Dante’s Inferno, due out on February 5, 2010 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PSP.
Like the game, the movie is based on Dante Alighieri’s classic poem The Divine Comedy. It follows Dante as he travels through the nine circles of Hell in search of his true love, Beatrice.
It’s been animated by some of the brains behind anime classics Ghost in the Shell and Blood the Last Vampire.
Through a series of episodes, each animated by a different team, the movie will explore aspects of the poem the game does not.
A PS3 demo of the game is due out today. An Xbox 360 demo is set to be released on December 24.
