Codemasters has announced Dance Factory for the PlayStation 2. Heralded as the next generation in the dance mat genre, the game will allow users to dance to their own tunes. Dance moves are generated automatically when a new CD is inserted into the PlayStation 2, expanding the life of the game indefinitely.
Codemasters’ Director of Marketing, Nicky Hewitt, seems pretty excited about the game in development at Broadsword Interactive (the team behind the successful Dance UK series of games), saying:
“This is an incredible development in social gaming and will give anyone the ability to choose the tracks they want to groove to on a dance mat. Rather then be limited by a built-in play list, the freedom Dance Factory offers enables it to span across all music tastes.”
“This freedom also means the game won’t be dated by a forced play list – you can as easily play it with a classic disco track or the current number one.”
“It’s a great unique feature and just one of the many we’ve yet to reveal on this exciting project that is set to deliver the most accessible and fun dance mat game ever.”
Dance Factory will be released exclusively for the PlayStation 2 in spring 2006.
