Mortal Kombat: Armageddon will be released on PlayStation 2 and Xbox, and according to Steve Allison, chief marketing officer, Midway, “introduces the most comprehensive cast of playable characters from every Mortal Kombat title, both past and present, in addition to the first create-a-fighter mode in franchise history.” The game will also include a Create-A-Fatality mode, plus an all new Konquest mode that is being developed using the Shaolin Monks game engine.

Midway also revealed Mortal Kombat: Unchained for the PSP, which claims to deliver the “deepest fighting game ever on the PSP.” Expect multiple fatalities from each character, six new characters, Wi-Fi head-to-head play, interactive backgrounds and an endurance mode. Both Armageddon and Unchained are pencilled in for release in North America in the fall, with European releases likely to follow soon after.

We’re now also expecting the Mortal Kombat 1 release date to fall in the near future, so stay up to date with that too.
