Weather Factory's card-based romp Cultist Simulator has managed to flog around 100,000 copies, according to a blog post by co-founder Alexis Kennedy.
Kennedy talks at large about how the studio's first year went, and in doing so, revealed how well Cultist Simulator performed sales-wise. Specifically, Kennedy confirmed that the oddball title moved the lion's share of copies on Steam, with 85, 200 units (after refunds) sold.
The remaining number of copies were flogged on Humble, GOG, and itch.io, totalling 105,000 units sold. Not too shabby for a game that is pretty much the quintessential example of a niche effort, eh?
In addition, Kennedy said that half a million units were distributed via Humble Monthly. For those unaware, this was part of a publishing deal with Humble, and meant that there were no royalties gained; however, Kennedy notes it was worth the risk for extra word-of-mouth alone.
He added, 'our daily sales numbers about doubled the day that the Humble Monthly hit, and they’re still at the same level nine days later.'
Back in June, Kennedy revealed that Cultist Simulator had sold 40,000 units in just tw0 weeks.
