In response to a leaked version of Crysis 2 for PC hitting torrent websites, Crytek and EA have urged gamers to wait for and purchase the final and complete version of Crysis 2.
“Crytek has been alerted that an early incomplete, unfinished build of Crysis 2 has appeared on Torrent sites,” read a statement by the developer and publisher. “Crytek and EA are deeply disappointed by the news. We encourage fans to support the game and the development team by waiting and purchasing the final, polished game on March 22.”
The statement concluded: “Piracy continues to damage the PC packaged goods market and the PC development community.”
Crysis 2 will be released in the UK on March 25 for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
It’s pretty commonplace to see a game hitting the torrent sites on or around release, but the Crysis 2 leak is a little different because of its availability over a month before the finished game hits stores. Hopefully the leak won’t badly affect sales come March 25.
