Tomb Raider Legend was a hugely successful game for Eidos. Not only did the game achieve strong sales, but it was also well received by critics, and the franchise is now back on track – something that seemed unlikely following 2003’s disappointing Angel of Darkness.

Much of the series’ resurgence has been attributed to Crystal Dynamics, and Eidos product acquisition manger Ian Livingstone believes that for the Tomb Raider brand to remain healthy, it was important that the relationship between the publisher and Crystal Dynamics continued beyond a single game Tomb Raider game.

It’s good news then, that Crystal Dynamics is already hard at work on Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Anniversary, and an all new eighth instalment in the series – a game scheduled for release at some time between July 1, 2008 and June 30, 2009.
