Crytek only began to develop DirectX 11 Crysis 2 in November 2010 and was unable to complete the support in time for last week’s launch of the game, claims a trusted source as reported by Eurogamer.

Contrary to earlier reports, the source believes a DirectX 11 patch isn’t imminent, but will in fact be released in two to three months.

Crysis 2 is out now for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.

Earlier this week Crytek community manager Cry-Tom addressed the DirectX 11 rumours, making a comment which casts serious doubt over the Eurogamer report.

“When there are any big announcements regarding Crysis 2 they will be posted on MyCrysis, if you read something about a patch for example, but don’t see it on MyCrysis.com, then it isn’t genuine,” he explained.
