FoxNet Games has announced Crisis on the Planet of the Apes VR, a brand new first-person adventure set between the events of Rise and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes for PSVR, Oculus Rift, and HTC Vive platforms.

Set some five years after the Simian Flu devastated mankind and left an evolved species of primates in it wake, Crisis on the Planet of the Apes sees players attempting to escape from a high-security prison as an intelligent ape that’s caught up in the midst of humanity’s desperate search for a cure to the disease.

You’ll be able to wield firearms as well as use your inherent primate prowess to your advantage, leaping and climbing alongside fellow apes to reunite with the overlord of your kind, Caeser. Expect to team up with fellow captives, square off against human foes, and ‘channel your primate instincts’ to make it out alive.

‘VR has always held the promise of bringing together the cinematic storytelling of film and the deeply immersive interactivity of games. Crisis on the Planet of the Apes VR takes this potential to the next level,’ commented FoxNet VR Studios’ Senior Vice President and General Manager, Brendan Handler. ‘We set out to give the fan a lead role in this dark Planet of the Apes world — to feel the ape’s strength, power and movement as he fights his way to safety.’

Crisis on the Planet of the Apes VR will be released on April 3, priced $14.99.
