Earlier this week Microsoft Game Studios general manager Phil Spencer revealed that Gears of War 2 is “pushing” 3 million units sold and suggested Epic Games vice president Mark Rein would have more up to date figures.
It turns out he does. Speaking to Edge, Rein said: “Microsoft [the game’s publisher] confirmed to me this afternoon that Gears of War 2 sell-through surpassed 3 million units as of last week.”
The first Gears of War title reached three million units sold in approximately ten weeks, while the sequel has reached this milestone mark in only four weeks. The original title has sold five million units to date.
