Wii FPS Conduit 2 will now be released April 22, 2011, SEGA has announced. Earlier this month a March 18 release date had been confirmed by the publisher.

SEGA informs us that the extra time will enable the team at High Voltage to continue to “balance and enhance the game’s multiplayer”.

Conduit 2 will take players to the far reaches of the world to stop an alien invasion which can be fought in single-player, online multi-player battles, and all-new off and online co-op modes.

The sequel introduces Team Invasion Mode, the new co-op mode where players will be able to battle side-by-side in teams of four friends on the same screen. Additionally, Team Invasion Mode can be played online.

Another delay doesn’t inspire positive feelings about Conduit 2, suggesting there are problems which are taking more time than hoped to remedy, but we’d rather it be held back than put into stores unfinished.

The new date does put it up against Valve’s Portal 2 and Warner’s Mortal Kombat. Neither title is heading to Wii, but there is sure to be some core gamer crossover.
