Condemned was one of the surprise critical hits at the launch of the Xbox 360 and SEGA is once again returning to the adults-only realm with Condemned: Bloodshot.

The first title focused entirely on the single-player experience, but with the sequel SEGA is looking to bring something new and unique to the online arena.

We’re trying to bring that Condemned feeling of visceral, in your face hand-to-hand combat into the multiplayer space,” senior SEGA producer Constantine Hantzopoulos told CVG. “There’s gunplay if you want it but that’s not what Condemned is really about. Condemned multiplayer is going to be very unique.

Gunplay was a very minor part of the combat found in the first condemned and it sounds like the sequel will follow suit, with the focus largely on visceral melee attacks.

Hantzopoulos also revealed that the game will feature online co-op, although no firm details have been announced at this time.

Condemned: Bloodshot is scheduled for release in spring 2008 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
