Following the conclusion of its open beta period, Concord developer Firewalk Studios has announced that the game will not have a battle pass. Instead, the development team wanted to focus on providing “a rewarding and robust experience on day one, where just playing the game, leveling up your accounts and characters, and completing jobs yields meaningful rewards.”

That’s according to their recent X (formerly Twitter) post, in which they answered some of the most commonly asked questions during its relatively disappointing, low-turnout open beta. Unsurprisingly, fan reaction has been largely positive because battle passes (and microtransactions in general) have often been an unpopular part of live-service games. But it is worth noting that the game won’t be free-to-play (the standard base game will cost you $39.99), so you’ll still have to spend money to play it.

Concord also won’t be entirely free of microtransactions, as it will offer a selection of cosmetics in exchange for in-game currency. Like always, these won’t be necessary for your progression, but who doesn’t like having a flashy outfit to flaunt in matches? Of course, you’ll have to wait until the game’s launch to find out what the different shop items will be. But you can most likely expect more character variants, weapon skins, and gun charms, similar to what you saw throughout the beta.

Aside from excluding the battle pass from Concord, Firewalk Studios also gave players an even bigger preview of what they can expect on opening day. According to the devs, it will have 12 maps and six modes, 16 playable Freegunners, single-player training modes, a weekly cinematic, and more. Additional features will arrive in future patches, as well as free post-launch content. But for now, you can check out the entirety of the dev team’s lengthy post below.
