Colin McRae DIRT, despite a few technical shortcomings, was and still is a great off road racer for the Xbox 360 and PC. The first rally title for the Xbox 360 took the genre screaming into the next-gen era, but the PlayStation 3 version was nowhere to be seen.

After a considerable wait, PS3 owners will soon be able to tackle Colin’s latest complete with compatibility with many PlayStation 2 racing wheels and remixed audio offering 7.1 and 5.1 surround sound.

The early buzz around the PS3 version also suggested the game’s frame rate has been worked on, smoothing out the often sporadic motion found in the Xbox 360 version.

Colin McRae: DIRT is scheduled for release on PlayStation 3 in September and you can read why the Xbox 360 version is so much fun over in our review.
