The French game developer Darkworks has announced that it has granted the motion picture rights of its 2005 action horror title Cold Fear to Avatar Films and Sekretagent Productions. The film will apparently follow the same story as the game, which saw a coast guard named Tom Hansen stranded on a whaling ship that happens to be infested with aliens.

Cold Fear was released on Xbox, PlayStation 2 and PC in 2005 and received some great and not so great reviews. As of November 2005, the game had passed worldwide sales of 500,000 copies.
