In Coded Arms Assault on the PlayStation 3, the player takes the role of a hacker who enters into a virtual world to overthrow an evil corporation. The game is in development using the Unreal Engine 3, and certainly looks promising based on the screens and gameplay footage that have been released. In keeping with Sony’s push into the online arena, Coded Arms Assault will allow up to four players to play co-operatively through the entire single-player campaign.

In addition to co-op play, the game will also feature large-scale online combat for up to 16 players. Modes include team and solo-play game types, with land and air-based vehicles also available. New multiplayer content will also be unlocked as you play.

The first Coded Arms title on the PSP was a little hit-and-miss, but that hasn’t stopped Konami from bringing a second game to the handheld. In Coded Arms Contagion the player takes the role of a lone security agent and is thrust into a cybernetic crisis. You must return to A.I.D.A. (a VR military training program) to prevent the cyber terrorists from taking control of the program and gaining access to classified military information. Expect plenty of new weapons and original enemies to crop up across the game’s enclosed and open-air levels.

The first Coded Arms title on the PSP had some decent multiplayer modes, and the sequel looks to improve on this with support for up to eight players both locally and online. Single-player and team modes will be present, with a variety of gameplay types.

Coded Arms Assault on PlayStation 3 and Coded Arms Contagion on the PSP are both scheduled for release in 2007.
