GameStop executive vice president for merchandising and marketing Tony Bartel believes Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be the biggest entertainment launch of all time, with the video games chain having already taken more pre-orders for the title than any game that has come before.
“By all indicators, we anticipate Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be the biggest entertainment launch of all time,” said Bartel. “As of today, the number of pre-order reservations we’ve taken for the game is the highest for any title we’ve ever sold in our 6,200 store network.”
Earlier this week, Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter revealed that he expected the game to earn sales of over $500 million in the week following its launch.
Modern Warfare 2 will be released on November 10 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
