Cities Skylines 2 developer Colossal Order has announced their post-launch plans to improve the current playability of their latest city-building simulator. Though the reception to their latest series entry has been less than ideal, their strategy will look to improve the game’s overall playability through a series of patches that will address the performance issues that many players have been struggling with.

Once the developers have introduced these changes, you most likely won’t need to employ a manual fix for the Cities Skylines 2 stuttering problem. This is because, according to Colossal Order’s lengthy blog post, the patches they’ll be launching in the future will look to address these performance issues, which include removing stuttering, optimizing and balancing GPU performances, and expanding options for upscaling solutions.

Colossal Order then added that their goal with these upcoming patches is to improve the game with its default settings. They would also note that the performance target for their game “is to run at a steady 30FPS” because “there is no real benefit in a city builder to aim for higher FPS.” However, they do mention that 60FPS “can contribute to better visuals in relation to temporal effects,” so they “don’t intend to limit or stop the optimization work just because” they’ve reached their goal.

It’s currently unclear when Colossal Order plans on releasing these updates, as they are yet to provide a specific launch window. But based on their transparency and willingness to communicate with their community, it’s safe to say that the developer will be releasing these patches sooner rather than later to improve their popular sequel’s overall playability.
