EA has announced that SAS hero and best-selling action author Chris Ryan will pen a prequel novel to upcoming video game Medal of Honor.
Ryan used the missions within Medal of Honor as a reference point for the novella.
Ryan said: “It is a real privilege to be involved in a game with such a heritage as Medal of Honor. Combining my experience as an SAS soldier in the Gulf War with missions from the video game itself enabled me to create an authentic and respectful account of an elite soldier fighting in Afghanistan for Medal of Honor: The Book.
“Bringing together the disciplines of literature and video games has been a new but compelling experience for me as a writer, resulting in what is hopefully an engaging read for fans of video games and novels alike.”
Medal of Honor: The Book, will be given away with all pre-orders of Medal of Honor the game made before its release exclusively at HMV stores nationwide and online in the UK before being released on general sale in all good book retailers.
The game will launch in the UK on October 15.
