CD Projekt has called for Sony to allow cross-platform play between PS4 and Xbox One, having told IGN that it has a technical solution ready to go for the Gwent card game beta later this year.

CD Projekt CEO Marcin IwiÅ„ski told IGN: “We are keeping our fingers crossed for Rocket League paving the way.”

Psyonix VP Jeremy Dunham explained that the cross-platform service for Rocket League could be up in a matter of “hours” if Sony decides to give the team the go-ahead.

IwiÅ„ski continued: “Our upcoming Gwent: The Witcher Card Game will launch in closed beta for PC and Xbox One later this year, and Microsoft already confirmed Gwent’s cross-play feature not only between Xbox One and PC, but also other consoles if they allow it.

“We also do have a technical solution in place for PS4 and would love to add Sony’s platform to cross-play at the start of open beta. All we need is a green light from Sony.”

Sony is yet to comment on the likelihood of cross-platform play being enabled.
