Despite last year’s controversy over the handling of EVE Online’s development, CCP made $66 million, proving the firm still had a strong year.
The success of the game has led CCP head Hilmar Petersson to suggest the possibility for an IPO.
“We want to be ready for an IPO from a policy standpoint,” he told Tech Crunch.
“We’re quite a substantial company, so we’re thinking, ‘Okay, what is the next step?'”
The subscription-based MMO is thought to have roughly 400,000 active players, with revenue climbing 53 per cent according to company.
No timeline for the IPO has been given, however CCP has regularly released patches and expansions built to improve the experience for new players to the game.
The game is said to have seen increased activity from new users by the end of 2011 compared to the year before.
