Netflix’s Castlevania will be back for more blood-sucking antics this summer, its lead writer has announced. The anime-flavoured outing will return for a total of eight episodes, although an exact air date has not been confirmed as of yet.

The first season contained only four episodes, so it’s good to see that Netflix apparently has enough faith in Castlevania to double its output for a second season. The debut series was more or less a straight adaptation of Konami’s venerable gaming franchise, specifically Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse, focusing on the exploits of Trevor Belmont.

The second series sees the vampire slayer helping out a city beseiged by an army of demonic forces lead by Dracula. Richard Armitage and Graham McTavish return to lend their gravely tones to Belmont and Dracula, respectively, while James Callis assumes the role of Drac’s son, Alucard.

If you haven’t unleashed your peepers on Castlevania yet then you might want to give it a shot; the show attracted pretty favourable reviews, which for a video game adaptation is a huge achievement in itself.Â
