At X05 yesterday (Microsoft’s Xbox only event) Castle Wolfenstein was announced by id CEO Todd Hollenshead. While the game is set for multiple platforms, the Xbox 360 is said to be the lead platform and John Carmack appeared on video to declare that the 360 was better to develop for than the PC.

Little is known about the game, but it has been revealed that rather than featuring a series of levels, it will be one extremely large area where the game takes place in, with the player seamlessly moving from one area to the next.

Castle Wolfenstein isn’t due for some time, but id Software and Raven’s Quake 4 will hit the Xbox 360 near its launch. The PC version is due in Europe on October 21st.
