Project Treasure Island Z (working title) is described by Capcom as an “innovative, full-length puzzle adventure game that utilizes the unique control mechanics of the Wiimote and challenges gamers to ‘play different.’

Innovation has been the cornerstone of Capcom’s successful history,” said Michael Pattison, Senior Marketing Director, CE Europe. “By introducing a whole new level of interactivity, this title reinforces our commitment to pushing the limits on how people view and play games.

The game’s story involves a legend of a revered pirate named Barbaros, who is said to have stolen the world’s treasure and hid it on a mysterious island. Pirates the world over have been pursuing the treasure and one such treasure seeker, a young apprentice called Zack, discovers the mysterious talking skull of Barbaros himself. Barbaros promises to reveal the location of the treasure if Zack will help lift the curse he is under.

The game will play out as a mix of adventure and puzzle solving as you embark on a quest to become the greatest pirate the world has ever seen. Using the Wii’s unique controllers players will be able to move and open objects, transform items, unlock new pathways and navigate through perilous stages. These will include a jungle, ice temple, volcanic caves and more.

Players will find themselves rotating handles, turning keys to open doors, playing a piccolo and much more as the puzzles in the adventure become increasingly difficult to solve.

The game is planned for release in the autumn.
