It's been three years since the release of Resident Evil 6 and so far Capcom hasn't announced Resident Evil 7, instead launching a host of spin-offs and remasters.

However, a comment made by Resident Evil producer Masachika Kawata in Dengeki PlayStation's 600th edition suggests we might not have to wait for much longer:

"We're currently not at a state to talk about [Resident Evil 7]... but please stay tuned."

This is pretty much your standard "no comment" response, but the "stay tuned" part gives us all hope that an announcement is just around the corner.

In the same magazine Capcom producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi said there are "no plans" for a new Devil May Cry or offline Dragon's Dogma, even though they are projects he'd like to personally take on.
