Resident Evil Revelations isn’t coming to PS Vita because Capcom wanted to focus on updating the 3DS title to be a large screen experience, product manager Mike Lunn has revealed.

The high definition remake is on its way to Xbox 360, PS3 and PC in May, leaving PS Vita owners wondering why they are the ones to miss out.

Responding to some angry questioning on the US PlayStation Blog, Lunn wrote: “When we were developing Revelations for new platforms we really wanted to hone in on the experience you get with a large format screen, surround sound, etc. This type of setup really helps players get sucked into the horror vibe and enjoy the game to its fullest extent.”

He later added: “3DS and PS-vita infrastructure let alone developing games for them are extremely different beasts. Even just the screens as you mention are completely different resolutions/functions.”

So it’s nothing to do with the installed base being too small to bother with? It’s a shame that a game originally designed for a handheld won’t be coming to the PS Vita, when it quite clearly would be a great fit for the platform.
