Activision’s Vicarious Visions was working on a tactical Call of Duty spin-off back in 2009, but the project was cancelled before ever coming into the public eye.
Superannuation dug up the game on the the CV of one of the development studio’s former animators. A video of the game was also found on the animator’s website, but this has since been removed.
There was no mention of how far along in development the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 game was, or why it was cancelled.
The tactical game isn’t the first Call of Duty spin-off to bite the dust, with Sledgehammer’s third-person action title also canned before the studio stepped in to help with Modern Warfare 3.
Yesterday, a poster was spotted suggesting that we could see a reveal of this year’s Call of Duty game on May 2.
