Call of Duty: WWII fans have plenty of reasons to be happy recently, and it’s all thanks to Sledgehammer Games co-founder, Michael Condrey, who’s been confirming a number features that’ll be present in the next iteration of the series. Dedicated ranked playlists will return, as well as a new daily mode. That’s not all, the emblem editor and the PPSH-41, a fan fave weapons, both return as well. COD: WW2 also bids adieu to the much maligned Steady Aim perk.

We already knew that the ranked game modes are coming, and Condrey confirmed that dedicated ranked playlists will be returning to the game. Interestingly, the image that confirms this news also reveals a daily mode, which we can safely assume is going to be a daily challenges mode (or something along those lines).

Condrey confirmed that the emblem editor will make a return in a response to a fan on Twitter, though it won’t be in the beta. Personally, I’m not sure weed symbols need be referenced in the second world war, but perhaps we will get something more thematically focused? Also making a welcome return is the COD fan favourite the PPSH-41, a particularly cool Russian sub-machine gun, though there’s been no confirmation of what its ammunition capacity will be, having changed many times over the course of the series.

With the advent of new perks thanks to the game’s new customisable loadouts, aptly titled Divisions, COD: WWII will be saying goodbye to the oft-maligned Steady Aim perk, which reduced hip fire spread, and which many fans felt removed a lot of the skill required. Fair dos.

It’s only 23 days now until the beta begins on August 25 for those who’ve pre-ordered the game on PS4. Call of Duty: World War II is due for release on November 3 for PS4, Xbox One and PC. Those who pre-order will gain access to a beta, which will come to PS4 first on August 25.
