The rumoured Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered is definitely happening, Eurogamer reports. However, in a controversial move, it has been stated that the remaster will eschew the original game’s multiplayer component entirely.
Sources close to the site have corroborated previous rumours that a Modern Warfare 2 Remaster is in the pipeline after it was leaked on Amazon Italy last week. However, they’ve also claimed that the game will only have a single-player mode and no online features.
Furthermore, according to CharlieIntel, Raven Software is not involved in the project at all and the game will be sold at a reduced price tag of around $24.99.
The omission is pretty shocking, considering that Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Remastered included multiplayer, not to mention the fact that Call of Duty’s online exploits in general are by far and away the most enduring part of the multi-million selling franchise.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered is reportedly due out on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One prior to the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 this October.
