Call of Duty: Ghosts to release on Xbox One and PS4 over two weeks ahead of console launches

Call of Duty: Ghosts will release on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on November 5 – over two weeks ahead of the launch of either console, Amazon UK has revealed.

In an update on the retailer’s website, Amazon said: “Please Note: Your Xbox One/PS4 version of Call of Duty: Ghosts will be dispatched to arrive on Tuesday, November 5. However you will not be able to play your game until you receive your console on Friday, November 22/Friday, November 29.”

The Xbox One version’s description adds: “Please note that this product is released before the Xbox One console.”

Activision has yet to officially announce a release date for either the Xbox One or PS4 version but, if accurate, the early date means that both next-gen versions will launch alongside the current-gen and PC versions on November 5.

Xbox One doesn’t go on sale in the UK until November 22, with PlayStation 4 due to follow on November 29.

Call of Duty: Ghosts isn’t the only next-gen title due to release ahead of the consoles.

Earlier this month, EA announced that FIFA 14, Battlefield 4 and Madden NFL 25 would launch on Xbox One and PS4 three days ahead of each consoles’ US launch.
