Call of Duty: Ghosts’ will introduce dynamic maps to the game’s multiplayer mode for the first time in the series history.

Dynamic events will help shape the map throughout the course of a match, altering the game’s flow through a series of small and large scale destructive sequences.

Some will be controlled by the player and others “system-controlled”, Activision VP of production Daniel Suarez tells VideoGamer.com.

“The dynamic events range in scale from things that are very simple to things that [alter] the map,” Suarez says, “where I can blow something up that will cause something to fall and change the map, to something big, hugely dynamic, that is a map-changing event.”

One example given is the ability to push over a stack of logs to kill enemies hiding beneath.

The introduction of dynamic maps brings Call of Duty one step closer to rival Battlefield, which has employed the use of destructible environments since 2008’s Battlefield: Bad Company.

Call of Duty: Ghosts was revealed at Microsoft’s Xbox One Reveal event earlier today. The game launches on November 5, 2013.
