Activision has finally put an end to speculation and confirmed a £34.99/$49.99 price for an annual premium subscription to Call of Duty: Elite.
An annual membership gets you all Call of Duty DLC free for the year, and during the Call of Duty XP conference in LA Activision promised 20 new pieces of Modern Warfare 3 content over the next year. It wouldn’t just be maps, either, with Activision confirming it was working on providing new multiplayer modes and missions for the game’s Spec Ops mode.
Having a premium subscription to Call of Duty: Elite will also allow you to access map packs before they are made available over Xbox LIVE, PlayStation Network and Steam. Map packs will still be sold, but on Call of Duty: Elite they will be stripped apart and handed out on an individual basis every few weeks.
Premium membership will also entitle you to enter daily competitions, which offer both real-life and virtual prizes and promise to cater to all skill levels and playing styles.
Call of Duty: Elite provides clan support for all users, but subscribers will also be able to level up their clans in a fashion similar to their individual player ranks.
Elite TV will provide original video content to subscribers. So far this includes weekly shows such as Friday Night Fights, which pits celebrities against one another and will be directed by brothers Ridley and Tony Scott, and Noob Tube, a light-hearted commentary show produced by Jason Bateman and Will Arnett.
Finally, you’ll have eight times the storage space for videos if you’re a premium member.
Call of Duty: Elite officially launches alongside Modern Warfare 3 on November 8.
