At Games Convention 2007 Activision has announced that Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare will be released worldwide on November 5.

The game abandons the historic war scenario of previous games in the series and is set in modern times. With it comes a host of high-tech weaponry never before seen in a Call of Duty title.

We’ll have a preview of what we saw at GC 2007 up over the coming weeks, but it’s safe to say that this game should be on your shopping list this winter.

In addition to Xbox 360, PS3 and PC games, a version is also heading to Nintendo DS, promising to deliver the signature Call of Duty experience to handheld gamers.
