Focus Home Entertainment has super-glued an October 30 release date to hair-raising horror title Call of Cthulhu: The Official Video Game.

Developed by Cyanide, Call of Cthulhu hasn't had the smoothest of rides since its unveiling back in 2014, and was originally in the works at Frogwares, the same studio responsible for those pretty cool Sherlock Holmes games.

Doffing its cap to the short story by H.P. Lovecraft as well as the pen and paper RPG, Call of Cthulhu follows private investigator Edward Pierce as he attempts to solve a grisly murder of the Hawkins family on Darkwater Island.

Unfortunately for Pierce, this involves battling demonic creatures, walking the thin line between sanity and madness, and creeping around in the dark. The game places a large emphasis on RPG-style investigation, and combat is often a desperate last measure; Pierce is encouraged to solve problems by methods that don't involve punching or shooting baddies in the face.

Call of Cthulhu will be released on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One.
