Criterion has revealed that the Bike update for Burnout Paradise is on target for release on September 18. The free update to Criterion’s debut next-gen title will include motorbikes for the first time in Burnout history and a brand new 24 hr day/night cycle that has an impact on traffic density and the available events.

Players will also get 38 new against-the-clock race events (Burning Ride and Midnight Ride), dynamic weather and 70 Freeburn Challenges. Best of all, it’s completely free, which is something we’re not used to seeing on this latest generation of consoles.

Criterion hasn’t announced if the PS3 and Xbox 360 games will both receive the update on the 18th, but it hasn’t said otherwise. The previous Burnout Paradise update suffered from a slight delay on Xbox 360 leading many to believe that the same would be true for the Bike update.
