Download Bungie’s new mobile application for your iPhone and you’ll be able to get the blue flames armour effect and an All-Star nameplate in Halo: Reach.

The application, available for free on the App Store, lets you check your Reach challenges and commendations, view the Bungie.net news feed, and also have a cheeky peek at what your Spartan is currently wearing.

Blue flames were previously reserved for Bungie employees only, but have now been released for public consumption.

Bungie is also making the freebies public for a Bungie community event running from June 23 to July 7. The event marks Bungie’s final days of working with the Halo series.

You can also gift the All-Star Nameplate to 7 friends (possibly even Android owners) but the blue flames are bound to your account.

Bungie Mobile requires iOS 4.0 at the minimum, so owners of old iPod Touch devices won’t be able to get their mitts on the swag.

Taking over from Bungie on the Halo series is Microsoft’s 343 Industries, who announced Halo 4 as part of Microsoft’s E3 2011 conference.

This year marks the original Halo: Combat Evolved’s 10th anniversary and Microsoft is releasing a HD remastering of the game to celebrate. Last week VideoGamer.com reported that the Halo: CE Anniversary will feature secrets about Halo 4.

Bungie’s last Halo game received a lofty 9/10 from VideoGamer.com. You can find out why by reading our Halo: Reach review.
