Take-Two has filed a new trademark for Rockstar Games’ much-loved Bully IP, but what does the future hold for the game?
At the very least Take-Two wishes to maintain control of its IP and will continue to sell the original game, but a sequel could also be on the cards.
Take-Two said overnight that it builds franchises to last.
“It’s been our goal not just to preserve and grow the Grand Theft Auto franchise, but also to build other franchises that we think can be permanent, whether that’s the Red Dead franchise or the Borderlands franchise or the BioShock franchise or others, Civilization, for example,” said Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick.
Whether or not Bully is viewed as a “permanent” franchise remains to be seen.
