People Can Fly have confirmed that its over-the-top FPS title, Bulletstorm, will be released on Feb 22 next year.
A hyperactive demo at EA’s E3 press conference featured lots of blood, macho one-liners, and an energy leash that can be used to haul enemies about the gameworld. The presentation also showed off the player’s ability to boot people in the face. At one point the main character snared a foe and then kicked him into an electrical generator, resulting in spark-y, scream-y death.
The game will also feature a “skillshot” system that rewards the player for killing their opposition in creative ways.
“You do cool s*** so you can do more cool s***, so you can do more cool s***,” explained producer Tanya Jessen. “It’s like a circle of awesome!”
