Bossa Studios – developers of Surgeon Simulator and I Am Bread – are undertaking a free week for their latest game Decksplash from later today, with an interesting twist.

The PC game, which is an online multiplayer mix between Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater and Splatoon, will only be released into early access if the player count reaches 100K players or more between November 2 to November 10. If the game does not meet that goal, then seemingly, it won’t be released at all.

Explaining their decision in the video posted below, Bossa explained that despite the game being in development for over a year,  they feel that if they can’t find 100K people willing to play the game for free, then they’ll struggle to find enough people willing to pay for the game upon release.

The free week commences from 6pm this evening and runs through until November 10 – presuming the initiative is successful, the game will be released into early access the moment the free week is over. You can participate in the free week yourself should you choose to by checking the page on Steam.
