Borderlands 2 is once again safe to play with strangers on Xbox LIVE, developer Gearbox has revealed.

A title update has been released which closes off an exploit which made it possible for a hacked save file to unlock a “hardcore mode”. The hack resulted in players losing their save files – anyone killed by these players also lost their save file.

Gearbox’s support page states: “Added security to prevent data loss tied to malicious violations of the Xbox Live Code of Conduct through an unsupported third-party program.”
