Borderlands 2 pre-order numbers are higher than every game in 2K’s history, except for GTA: San Andreas and GTA 4.

Speaking at 2K’s Q1 earnings call, CEO Strauss Zelnick (quoted in OXM), said that Borderlands 2 “pre-orders are currently the third highest of any title in Take-Two’s history, behind only Grand Theft Auto IV and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas”.

Zelnick also notes: “Early consumer enthusiasm suggests robust demand for our extraordinary line-up of upcoming releases, particularly Borderlands 2, NBA 2K13 and BioShock Infinite. We continue to expect fiscal 2013 to be one of the best years in Take-Two’s history.”

Borderlands 2 will receive an uncut release across all territories, arriving in North America on September 18 and everywhere else September 21.
